Danny Drinkwater is yet to make his Chelsea debut since joining the Champions for Leicester City this summer. He is still recovering from a calf injury and is still some time away from registering his first minutes for the Blues. Today he trained alone at Cobham and looked like he is almost at full fitness.
The Chelsea team looked to be in high spirits during the final training session before their Champions League group stage match against AS Roma.
Antonio Conte called up four Chelsea youngsters to train with Chelsea ‘s first team which includes Ethan Ampadu, Dujon Sterling, Jake Clarke-Salter and Kyle Scott.
Alvaro Morata also trained with the team with Conte confirming that he is in contention to start on Wednesday night.
Chelsea star midfielder N’Golo Kante suffered a hamstring injury during France’s World Cup Qualifier against Bulgaria. Kante started the game for France but was subbed off for Adrien Rabiot after only 33 minutes. France won the 1-0 thanks to a Blaise Matuidi goal after 3 minutes.
Chelsea are already without summer signing Danny Drinkwater and with Kante unable to play, this injury blow only compounds more problems for Antonio Conte.
Alvaro Morata limped off mid way through Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last Saturday because of a hamstring injury, but traveled to Spain for international duty earlier this week but then withdrew from the Spain’s national team for said reason.
The Spanish Football Federation says Morata has a grade-two hamstring injury which could see him out of action for over a month. Chelsea on the other hand want to examine Morata using their own doctors to have a better understand of the injury.

Chelsea have some crucial matches coming up which includes two Champions League games vs AS Roma and the hosting of former manager Jose Mourinho & Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on the 5th of November. With Morata’s injury causing him to miss these matches, Michy Batshuayi is Chelsea’s only recognizable striker in the team. His time to step up is now.
Speaking to chelseafc.com Rudiger said, “We knew from the start it would be a tough match and we wanted to give our all, but not everything went well, like it did against Atletico,’ said the defender. ‘We have to keep our heads held high, come back after international duty and start again.”
“Against Man City it’s not always easy, especially on the wings because they have quality players. We have a lot of quality as well but they had one shot which made the difference.”
“Of course everyone is very disappointed. We had a very good month until this game. It was tough but every game in this league is tough.”
Our next match after the international break, is away at Crystal Palace, who will be fighting for their first win of the season.
“First of all I hope everybody stays healthy, that’s the main thing, and then after we have to set our minds straight and go back on a winning run,’ he said.
“We have to win against Crystal Palace, it won’t be an easy match but that’s the only way you can get back on track.”
The Chelsea team have safely arrived in Madrid and there was a light training session for the boys ahead of our Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid tomorrow.
Eden Hazard seem to be in his usual character.
