According to the Guardian, Nemanja Matic says he has nothing to prove to Chelsea ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League visit to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
“I feel when I played there, I showed them my quality. We won the title twice and also two cups, so I don’t have to prove to them anything. I just have to prove something to my new club.”
Matic left Chelsea in the summer to join former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho at Manchester United who signed him for Chelsea back in 2014.
On whether or not he will receive a positive reaction from the home crowd he said: “I don’t know. When I played there I always gave 100%. I’m sure they respect that but if not I don’t really care.”
Antonio Conte says the transfer of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United as a “great loss”.
Speaking at the Premier League Launch, Antonio Conte said, “Matic knows very well what I think about him.
“The importance for me about this player, who is a really good player, a top player, very important for our team, but sometimes you must accept this crazy transfer market.
“And sometimes you must accept different decisions. But he is a great loss for us.”
Manchester United have completed the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea for £40m on a three-year deal.
Matic had this to say upon joining former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United: “I am delighted to be joining at an exciting time.”
The Serbia midfielder added: “To work with Jose Mourinho once again was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
“I have enjoyed my time at Chelsea and would like to thank the club and the fans for their support. I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates and to start training with them.”
Farewell Matic, thank you for your service.
The saga continues…..Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has been headlining reports of a move to Old Trafford. Manchester United has made a £75m bid to sign the coveted striker and the move seemed imminent.
Today, according to BBC and Sky Sports, Chelsea has matched Man United’s £75m bid and the battle for his signature has now begun .
Sky claims that Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola wants Lukaku to go to Manchester United but the player wants to go to Chelsea. Quite a predicament.
More to follow.
According to German outlet Bild, Chelsea are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund defender, Sokratis Papastathopoulos. In the report, they claim that the 29 year old Greek defender is frustrated that his team didn’t win the Bundes Liga last season and he is now open to a move away from Westfalenstadion.
A number of 3 different Premier League clubs seems to be interested in him, which includes Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.
On 24 May 2013, just before the Champions League final against Bayern Munich, Dortmund bought Sokratis from Werder Bremen for €9.5 million.
