Brazil and Chelsea star Willian believes he needs to utilize the Selecao’s trip to Australia as a stage to solidify his odds of playing at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Brazil take on Argentina and Australia in a couple of friendlies at the MCG in Melbourne on Friday and Tuesday, knowing they have already secured their ticket to Russia.
The winger scored 12 goals and five assists in all competitions for Chelsea last season, yet focused on work still should be done to secure his spot in the Brazil World Cup team.
“I have a good chance to go to the World Cup but I don’t feel I’m guaranteed (to go). You have to prove every game that you can be part of the team for the World Cup,” Willian said.
“No doubt, every time I come to the national team, I do my best, I have to prove why I am here, and the game is not going to be different and if Tito wants me as a starter, I’m going to do my best.”
“Every player has a chance to be a starter, but I have to fight for my spot.”
